Exam today @ 17:30
But on the plus side it’s IT management, which pretty much boils down to ‘Outsource it!’ and I have 46% head into the exam so I only need to pick up 4% to pass, or 1% for a conceded pass, which is spelling my name correctly I think
But a few minor links here….
Here is an ascii art stream of the World Cup Football matches…. http://www.ascii-wm.net/ if you go to your command prompt (go to the run from the start menu and type in ‘command’) that will bring back memories of DOS…. And then you type in “telnet ascii-wm.net 2006” you should see it in all it’s ascii glory…..
Oh and Alistair I see your Safety Dance and raise you http://youtube.com/watch?v=LKu_QA8Bn9o&search=hasselhoff

And now I had better get back to cramming…….

Useless without shaking hands!
Another one of those boring viral videos. But for some reason this makes me laugh as much as the “All your base” video did …. For the first 300 times anyway. I don’t know if it’s basic cultural insensitivity at play here but the lines “I face pressure, you face pressure!” crack me up, anyways it’s known colloquially as the Bus uncle video, it comes out of Hong Kong so Lil you may appreciate this more than me, or maybe find it offensive I don’t know, you can view it at You Tube of course http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSHziqJWYcM Better get back to the study….!

Yes it is exam time everybody
This Taiwanese girl ( I was never totally sure) had the most amazing moustache, I mean better than I could ever grow and possibly on par with Robbs facial hairiness, Oh and Yaya from Beijing (cool name huh?) well he was so quiet in person, and probably the best of the Chinese in terms of working, whenever I would say in an email "We can do this!" he would reply "Yes Fight It!!!!!!' Which I always found rather endearing. Their english was always patchy, I looked over some of their reports and I'd say they were probably grade 5 standard. It seemed that tense was the thing that always tripped them up and they all had excellent vocabularies which I found odd. Perhaps they learned their english by memorising nouns..... I did lose a little respect when I found out that wealthy Chinese people in the PRC send their kids to english lessons from around age 4, I mean I hope that I would have made some more progress if I was in their situation.
Neways Not much else to report, I haven't started freaking out about exams yet, but I think I might still be basking in the glow of handing in a 200 page assignment today, 70 Hours it's taken we estimate, well probably about 140 Man hours.
Glad to get rid of that monster.
Maybe more interesting posts to follow.

Random Linkage Time
So it’s Friday afternoon and I have another crypto exam tomorrow so I’ll be lazy and resort to posting some interesting links of the week
First cab off the rank is something I’ve only just found, apparently it has been like this for about three weeks so apologies if I’m a little slow
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=brisbane,+australia&t=h&om=1
apparently Google maps has finally made it too Brisbane Australia (other parts of Australia too)
And this one courtesy of the Australian 2600 List the whole Black pages – grey pages thing seems to be heating up again with a flurry of new reverse look up directories. And the usual whining that it encourages stalking, of course you can just buy a reverse look up directory on CD for 49.95 so perhaps it encourages lazy or poor stalkers. I mean if the barrier to entry for your hobby is under $50 your not really that motivated and probably not a threat to anyone.
This is the best of the bunch I think, it has an easy link to a map (not Google maps just yet) and a load of other information too.

One other funny comment of the week, One of my projects is developing a home automation system in java and C++, the group is two IT-Maths dual degree’s, me and a dual IT-Law guy, the IT-law guy is in charge of the presentations and business cases. I was with the two other guys and about to write an email to the Law guy so he could put a description of the project for a business proposal, so asked one of the Maths guys to ask the other for a brief description of how the system works and he launches into a spiel about our messaging protocols and the system architecture, I interrupted and pointed out that we shouldn’t confuse the law guy, the second Maths guy stops for a second and without missing a beat says
“Hmm tell him it’s magic”
